Beautify Martinsville Day Saturday

Martinsville, Ind. – September 21, 2017 – The City’s next Beautify Martinsville Day is Saturday, September 23 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with volunteers asked to meet at 1109 East Columbus Street, with the group cleaning the area south of Washington Street to Gray Street.

According to Mayor Shannon Kohl, Beautify Martinsville events – particularly the one-day events – provide a great opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, schools, churches, and service organization members to be a part of improving the city.

“Beautify Martinsville events are all about cleaning up our community by focusing on specific areas of the city. This initiative improves both the appeal of our City and residents’ quality of life.

“There’s no RSVP needed; simply show up this Saturday morning ready to help and we’ll take it from there. If anyone can bring gardening gloves to use, that would be very helpful. By families participating, children can learn the value of keeping their community clean and the importance of volunteering for a cause.

“Especially with Fall Foliage coming up, any amount of time, energy and assistance everyone wants to contribute will make a big impact and be greatly appreciated,” Kohl said. “This is about all of us doing our part to take pride in our City for ourselves, each other and our guests who visit here.”

Homeowners also are encouraged to remove weeds, grass and debris from the sidewalks and curbs in front of their homes.

Beautify Martinsville events are part of the Kohl administration’s Neighborhoods Building Block within its 200-Day Plan.
